Introduction
Have you ever felt God calling you to missions but struggled with fear, doubt, or uncertainty? You’re not alone. Many missionaries—including some of the greatest in history—felt afraid before stepping out in faith.
I was one of them.
This is my testimony of how God took me from fear to faith, leading me into full-time missions. If you’re wondering whether God is calling you, I hope this story encourages you to step forward in faith, trusting that He will equip you for the journey ahead.
1. The Moment I Felt Called to Missions
I grew up in church, hearing about missionaries serving in far-off places. But I never imagined I would become one.
One Sunday, my pastor preached on Isaiah 6:8:
“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!’”
Something stirred in my heart. I felt an overwhelming conviction—God was calling me to go.
But my first reaction? Fear.
2. My Struggles with Fear & Doubt
Even though I felt called, fear kept me from saying yes. Thoughts flooded my mind:
😨 “I’m not qualified to be a missionary.”
😨 “How will I afford to go?”
😨 “What if I fail?”
For months, I wrestled with these fears, praying for confirmation. I wanted to obey God, but I was afraid of the unknown.
📌 Encouragement: If you feel scared about missions, remember: Even Moses, Gideon, and Jonah doubted their calling at first!
3. Taking My First Step of Faith
One day, I read Proverbs 3:5-6:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
That verse hit me like never before. I realized: God doesn’t call the qualified—He qualifies the called.
So I took my first step: I signed up for a short-term mission trip with my church.
4. Seeing God’s Provision Firsthand
I still worried about finances. But as I started raising support:
✅ People unexpectedly donated towards my trip.
✅ A friend covered my airfare as a gift.
✅ A local business sponsored supplies for the mission field.
I realized: God provides for what He calls us to do.
During the trip, I saw lives transformed, people saved, and God moving powerfully. That was my confirmation: I was meant for missions.
5. Stepping into Full-Time Missionary Work
After my short-term trip, I couldn’t shake the feeling that God wanted me to serve long-term. So, with prayer and support, I:
✔ Attended missionary training.
✔ Raised long-term financial support.
✔ Moved to the mission field—full of faith!
6. What I Learned on This Journey
A. Fear Never Disappears, But Faith Overcomes It
Even seasoned missionaries still face fear—but faith means stepping out despite fear.
B. God Always Provides in Unexpected Ways
If He calls you, He will provide for your needs—financially, spiritually, and emotionally.
C. Obedience Leads to Blessings
I wouldn’t trade this life for anything. Saying “yes” to God was the best decision I ever made.
Final Encouragement: Say Yes to God!
If God is calling you to missions, don’t let fear stop you. Take one step of faith, and watch how He moves.
📖 Key Verse:
"For we walk by faith, not by sight." – 2 Corinthians 5:7
